Shurangiz- Persian String Instrument- Made By Ramazani
General Description:
The shurangiz is an Iranian musical instrument developed in the 20th century. It is distinct from the setar due to its use of skin as part of the soundboard and its increased number of strings. The instrument features a unique soundboard design, consisting of a wooden panel suspended in the center of a membranous outer section, six strings, a longer, finer fingerboard, and a greater number of frets compared to the original setar.
There are two versions of the shurangiz: a smaller version with four strings (one paired course and two individual strings) similar to the setar, and a larger bass version with six strings arranged in three courses, typically tuned an octave lower than the setar. The skin soundboard contributes to greater resonance and enhances the audibility of lower notes.
